Report on the "Field Trip" for Fall 2025 Freshmen

On Friday, October 24, approximately 120 new students who enrolled in July and October visited Tokyo International University’s Kawagoe First Campus as part of an off-campus field trip. Afterward, those who wished to participate toured the Kawagoe City Museum of Art and strolled through the charming streets of Kawagoe, known as “Little Edo.”
On the day of the trip, three large buses from Tokyo International University picked up the students at Takadanobaba, where our school is located, and they set off with excited expressions. After about an hour, they arrived at the university’s main campus, Kawagoe Campus 1.
Upon arrival, we received a guided tour from staff at the university’s Admissions Center and toured the library, studios, editing rooms, and the main auditorium. In particular, the “JAPANESE PLAZA”—a bright, spacious facility where students can continue studying Japanese even after entering university—caught the students’ attention, and they looked around with great interest.
For lunch, we reserved the student lounge—a space where university students normally spend their free time—and enjoyed a colorful makunouchi bento. After lunch, the students participated in a painting workshop for Inuhariko, a traditional craft of Kawagoe. Using their favorite colors, they created one-of-a-kind masterpieces.
Furthermore, seven graduates of our school who are currently enrolled in the Faculty of Commerce at Tokyo International University made time in their busy schedules to join us and offered warm words of encouragement to their younger peers. The new students listened intently to the seniors’ stories, letting their imaginations run wild about their future academic paths and life as international students.
In the afternoon, interested students moved to the Kawagoe City Museum of Art to view works centered on Japanese painting. It was a valuable opportunity to experience traditional Japanese art and feel the culture through art.
Afterward, they freely explored the historic streets of Kawagoe, known as “Little Edo.” They were seen enjoying the quintessentially Japanese atmosphere of the town, tasting traditional sweets in the Confectionery Alley and making wishes at Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine.
Through this field trip, the students were able to experience firsthand the atmosphere of a Japanese university and the culture of a historic town.
Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Tokyo International University and to the graduates of the Japanese language school for their cooperation.
We, the entire staff of our school, will continue to support each and every student so that they can lead a meaningful study abroad life in Japan.
