I went to that popular sumo-themed live restaurant!

On Tuesday, February 3, thanks to an invitation from a professor at Tokyo International University, 22 volunteer students from our school attended a live sumo event (Nirakuza).
The approximately two-hour show was incredibly dynamic, and the students were able to experience sumo—a traditional Japanese culture—up close while enjoying a kaiseki meal. Enjoying sumo alongside a meal proved to be a special and valuable experience for the students.
The show featured sound, lighting, and video effects, creating a lively atmosphere in the venue. Additionally, since all explanations were provided in English, even international students experiencing sumo for the first time were able to enjoy the event with peace of mind.
The students learned about Japanese etiquette and spirituality (“heart”) from the movements of the wrestlers, and they were able to understand the rules and techniques (“skill”) of sumo in a fun and easy-to-understand way.At the end, the students watched the wrestlers’ intense matches up close, and many were deeply moved by the sheer power of the event.

I believe this was an unforgettable experience for the international students, allowing them to experience both Japanese culture and sports at the same time.
